I don't know what to title this post

Last night Mark found a deal on Craig's list for a Gold's Gym pass. I'm a member again! I went this morning and loved it. My legs are going to be buff again! Mark has the car all day, so I have been walking/running everywhere I need to go, including the gym. I can't wait to feel my fit self again! Hellooooo Zumba!!

On another note, I messed around on my violin today (no pun intended). I was surprised how I still remembered a song I played back in high school. It was a blast! I need to play more. For your viewing pleasure:

At a wedding I think??

That pic. was taken at a Texas hoedown. Not kidding.

My dad texted me yesterday asking if Mark and I wanted to stay at the Little America hotel in Salt Lake City tonight. He has a room for a medical conference up there but he and my mom can't stay the night.

So what did I do this morning in place of studying? Packed, cleaned the apartment, and worked out so I will feel hott tonight. Political science test? oh pleeeaaasseee..... cram then study? Sure, who cares. A night with my sweetie-pie sugar dumpling in the place that we spent our first night married together? Priceless.

I'd say my priorities are PERFECTLY in line.

Oh, I didn't mention that I have a 15 page paper and a teaching portfolio assignment all due in two days? oh well. It always gets done. :)

A new favorite quote in the Freeman household

So there's this guy named Satan, also known as the Devil, Angel of Darkness, Antichrist, Lucifer, King of Hell, archfiend, Apollyon, Prince of Darkness, the adversary, etc. etc. (I looked up synonyms...).

Basically, he loves to mess with people. He loves to beat us down--and takes every opportunity to do so.

He's not like Christ who gives us tools for protection against the adversary or freedom and agency to choose what we want in this life if we only ask.

Satan is readily available at all times. Not only is he available, but he is constantly knocking at our front door.

So, after leaving our stake conference yesterday afternoon, I told Mark about how I feel like Satan is just zoning in on my spirit and how much it just bothered me. I told him how I wished I could just tell him to, excuse my french, "f-off." (I said "F", not the real word). He made me feel a lot better when he told me something his mission President's wife taught his zone. She said that when she feels Satan's presence creeping up, she boldly declares,

"GO TO HELL, SATAN!!!!!!" out loud. Because hello...that's where he belongs!

Mark and I had a little exercise in the car and had a good laugh. Then he gave me a beautiful blessing, and the day only got better and better.

Don't any of you feel like that? Like you just want to punch the Devil in the face and then go on in your happy life?

Fun, Food, Friends, VEGAS (and basketball)

(After reading this you'll see how much of a food junkie I am. I hope you don't think less of me :) haha)
And sorry, no pictures :(
Mark, Me, and my brother David got in the car on Friday around noon and headed to the South Point hotel in Vegas......that night we:

Watched BYU/New Mexico duel it out that Friday night at Buffalo Wild Wings. We met up with Casey and Janice Fehlberg, The Garvins, and a few others. It was an amazing game (the parts that I watched and wasn't chit-chatting with Megan about babies (she's like 14 weeks along now), exercising, food, Hawaii, married stuff, etc...) and our husbands couldn't have been happier. This was Jimmer's 52-point game...the guys were wild to say the least, and towards the end I was grabbing Mark's leg and arm bouncing my bum on my chair out of excitement. I was glad that my bro David was there with us too. The wings were yum, but a few of us had some gnarly tummy aches later. We ordered honey BBQ wings and then creamy garlic wings. I liked the garlic better. I got a side salad to help digest those babies.
After the game, I was ready for some dessert and a night out. I get that strong, undeniable urge for sugar after a meal (every meal) but we decided to head to our hotel room with the Morgans. We ended up watching the San Diego State/UNLV game and chatting til about 11. Gladiator was on and we started watching it. Megan went unconcious first (growing a baby inside of her wipes the girl out!), then Mark, then Matt, then me. I never got that dessert or a night out. I guess the AMY vs. ESPN game was obvious...ESPN wasted me. We made up for it the next day though.

So Saturday came and we went to the Hash House for "breakfast." I guess it was on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives...We met up with a big group, including some unexpected people from our ward! Lexi and Greg Bullock and Kelsey and Matt Phillips were there too. It was awesome seeing them. Well, they told us the wait was 30 minutes. I thought, "oh! not bad! I'm hungry!" It was about 10:30 when we got there. So the time starts tickin'. (I'm going to make this really dramatic because for some reason that's how it was for me). 30 minutes...45 minutes....ONE HOUR..... by this point I am barely coherent. For those of you that know me, I am happy as a clam when I eat every three hours or so. But any longer than that, I can be quite beastly (this is not the case when I'm fasting, by the way. That's a lot easier....) and I get really droopy! Little Amy needs her FOOD! Okay so finally after an hour and 20 minutes of waiting outside, we're finally seated. We wait longer. And longer. Oh and the mean lady who works there got mad at Mark and I for sitting on the end of a table because "it was too narrow to walk behind". I was not a happy camper at this point. Mark was thinking "could you make that glare on your face any less conspicuous??" as I sat across from him not saying a word. We FINALLY ordered, and that took another 15 minutes or so before we got our mounds of food. They must have you wait that long so that you eat every last piece of food off of your plate...... It was pretty good. But I told Mark, Matt and Megan: "I'm NEVER eating there again. I could have made that myself and the wait was BRUTAL!" I know they were all thinking..."uhh...calmate chica!" K but to make it all worse---the other two girls at the table were PREGNANT and they seemed totally cool and happy and nonchalant about the whole thing. Then there's me at the end of the table purposefully avoiding all conversations because I'm hungry as heck. Sheesh. Mark was really scared of me that day!

After eating we went to the hotel to get on our swimsuits and lay out for a bit until it was time to go to the game at 4. We got to the game and had a great time, except for the fact that we got spanked by SDSU. And their annoying fans section was right next to us getting drunk off their bums! Nothing topped the game from the night before. What I thoroughly enjoyed though was being able to get a Dr. Pepper at the game! The REAL kind, not "Caffeine free". I never get soda, so this was a major treat for me! And hello...BYU is anti-caffeinated beverages so I gladly indulged. Mark and Matt pretty much wanted to fight the fans.....that was funny. Oh and after the game the lines of SDSU fans getting booze to celebrate was pretty funny too.

We got to Maggiano's and had to wait awhile. We're convincd it's because we're obviously college students and weren't wearing fancy clothes.....that's a whole other blog topic. This is getting far too long, but basically I discovered that the gnocchi at Maggiano's has NOTHING on the gnocchi at Gloria's Little Italy right here in Provo. I also discovered that the Morgan's are awesome people to Vacation with because they're chill like, thanks you two! We're sure going to miss you when you move in April!! BUT expect a visit for sure.

We packed up and left the next morning and on the way out stopped at the Paris to get's a Freeman Family tradition everytime we go to Vegas. They were DELICIOUS as always.

Overview of the week

  • Mark getting a new job last Monday, and starting a week later (this past Monday)
  • Vegas last weekend with the Morgans (Matt and Megan) and my brother David. That post will be added shortly :)
  • Making dinner 4 nights this week! A record for me this month...
  • Getting asked to be the escort for a friend when she goes through the temple for the first time next month!
  • Mark giving me his iphone 3...I love it!
  • Going on a date last night to Dickey's BBQ and then to the BYU Creamery for dessert. I recommend both places! Dickey's had a ton of food and it was awesome to finally have some good BBQ in Utah (it took me right back to my (our) Texas roots! Did you know Mark was born in Dallas?! We were made for each other).
  • Experiencing a new husband who LOVES his job! It's been such a night and day difference. At his old job, he went just to make money. At this job, he works double what he did at the last one but says it feels like the same amount of time because there's always something new happening and it makes the time go by fast.
  • Read scriptures almost every day! (except in Vegas...does anyone else have a hard time reading scriptures on vacation??? with other people in your room??)
  • Getting invited to a Murder mystery dinner thing tonight. We're going to DI today to get Mark some awesome clothing for it. He's a mountain climber, and I'm a granny secretary. I'll have to post pics of us later
  • Watching Jimmer and baby videos online instead of writing my English paper :) yes, it's a highlight
  • The earthquake and tsunami in Japan. We are awed by the videos online and on the news about it and keep the Japanese in our prayers!
  • Turning in a project late for my teaching class
  • Not seeing Mark from 8-6 p.m. (sometimes later) every day. We've always had a lot of time together, but now I guess it's time to grow up!
  • Not going running outside ONCE this week. :(
All in all, it was a great week! Have a good weekend everyone.

New Job!

I have one happy man living with me. Hallelujah our prayers have been answered! Drum roll please...

Mark got a job working (for his dad) as the new Property Manager (yes, I capitalized the P and the M...more official) of Raintree Apartments here in Provo. It's a huge responsibility! It's perfect practice for him to someday hopefully manage his own company someday. He's over 10 employees and is completely in charge of a huge yearly budget while keeping residents happy and honor-code friendly.

For those of you who know Mark's papa, he's one tough cookie when it comes to business. He's soft as butter when it comes to anything else though. Anyway, Mark loves loves loves talking business and entrepreneurship with his dad when they both have a spare hour or so. Well I guess Papa Freeman has been extra impressed with Mark lately and thinks Mark is a great fit for the job. Of course if there are any "issues," Mark will be treated no differently than the other employees.

Anyway, he's probably the most excited that I have ever seen him (besides marrying me of course). He has recently acquired a new company iPad and iPhone, which means I get his iPhone. I should probably be more excited, but I like my life simple. Having the world at my fingertips hopefully doesn't mean more time-wasting...I already do that enough on my blogs!! :)

goin' to Vegas, baby

See you again Utah on Sunday night!

BYU Basketball, food (Magiano's, Paris crepes...), friends, hubby, sunshine and South Point hotel....yes, please!

I just have to get through teaching a lesson tomorrow morning on Eastern Europe...
Can I just say that it stinks that I can't just be the teacher? Grading papers in the back of the classroom like a slave gets old QUICKLY!

I went tanning today and am peeling in my cleavage. Probably should've gone a minute or two less! Needing some warmth and sunshine much? I'm desperate.

acne and chocolate

Hi, my name is Amy and I am an addict.

Chocolate junky--that's me. I literally have not gone A DAY without it for the past week.
no, Amy, no! stop thinking about it!

Oh, and I have acne. Maybe there's a correlation between the two? or is it causation?
ugh. I need to get on some anti-biotics or something.
One problem though--it undoes the effects of birth control.
Maybe I can get injections in my face like I did as a junior in high school.
That was no fun!
Why does it have to revisit me again?
Apparently my grandpa passed it down to me, or I guess he passed it to my mom who then passed it to me.
I could have gone without that trait for sure!

Do any of you suffer from either of the two?

Saturday, March 5, 2011

So this morning we slept in til 9 (amazing) and I'm just waiting for my singing husband to get in his church clothes. We're goin' to the temple people! I'm just really excited. This week has been such an emotional roller-coaster. Tons of highs, and a few lows.
  • My parents offering to buy me a plane ticket to go to Boston with them in April for five days!
  • Planning our trip to Vegas next weekend for the MWC basketball tournament
  • Eating out THREE TIMES this week! at my THREE FAVORITE PLACES! Cafe Rio (shared a pork salad), Bangkok Grill (green curry..mmm), and In-n-Out (complete with Strawberry shake! I guess now our fast food count may be above 10 :/)
  • Mark surprising me with Jazz tickets that his dad and step-mom so thoughtfully gave us! It was an exciting game, but poor Jazz! Barely lost to those no-good Nuggets.
  • Being able to attend the annual Chocolate Extravaganza raising money for Intermountain Healthcare's NICU. Precious babies, delicious chocolate= pure joy for Amy! Amazing to see all the money people donated. Very touching!
Don't need to say the lows, because today's going to be a great day and I'm so excited to feel peace in the temple. Seriously! I tried to prep myself this morning and read a few Ensign articles. Thank goodness for a modern-day Prophet and inspired leaders. Have a wonderful weekend!

Running update

To get my mind off of stressful things in my life, I want to talk about running! A few posts ago, I committed myself again to the most convenient and cheap physical activity that I can do (since I can't kick/throw a ball, don't have a gym pass anymore, and am hating Insanity and P90X).

So here's my report:

Saturday, ran 4 miles with Mark in the snow: It was actually quite beautiful and rejuvenating running as the snow was falling, at least after the stomach cramps went away! Should have remembered to put my Body Glide goo imbetween my legs...chaffing hurts! Averaged a little under a ten minute mile. I'm pretty much a tortoise these days.

Monday, ran 4 miles with Mark again: Umm...this trip was a treat. I learned that one NEVER has an advantage when eating BEANS two hours before a run. Yeah, I barely made it through that one. Forgot to put on Body Glide. Chaffed once again. Barely made it under a 10 minute mile once again. Mark smoked me at mile 4 when I was holdin myself together. Oh and my ipod died. I make it sound like it was awful but I felt great those endorphins!

Wednesday (today), ran 4 miles by myself: Rocked it. Finally remembered to wear Body Glide, charge the ipod, and not eat beans before. Had a rough day concentrating and getting homework done due to anxious circumstances, but I'm glad I got a good run in! I ran at about a 9:07 pace. Much better, but not at all where I need to be. I think I'll change up my route on Friday though...running to Will's Pit Stop and back is starting to get lame.

I'm so lucky to be able to watch my mom run the Boston Marathon in April! She has worked so hard to get where she is, and I get to be there! Finishing a marathon is such a powerful thing. It's been two and a half years since I finished the St. George marathon and man, I have a lot to work up to! I ran that thing averaging an 8:25-8:30 minute mile! And that was quite a bit faster than the first marathon I did in 2006. I'm not saying that i'll be running a marathon anytime soon, but it's great motivation for these short runs (and pathetic at the same time to see how downhill I've gotten).

I'm so grateful for being able to just get out that door. That's the hardest part. Once I'm out there, there's no stopping me! Isn't it the same with life? You can't just sit and watch all the action pass in front of you; you have to get in there! :)

Here's a question: what gets you up and out the door?
