July 4th

We had a great 4th of July celebration this year. We were up and running around 5:15 am to get ready for the Freedom Run 5k with Mark's family. We put Noah in his festive outfit and went to the stroller section of the race with low expectations of doing well since it had been over a month since my lazy butt had exercised (shame, shame). Mark decided he'd stay back with all of his family, but that didn't last long. I can't walk in a race, so I ran, and Mark soon followed pushing our little guy. It felt so good to run. I am a little competitive and so I do a lot better knowing that there are people in front of me who I want to pass. Don't get the wrong idea here...I was still slow!! But I did better than the 5k 2 months ago (phew...).

Kerri, Brent, and my niece Bella just after finishing

His family all finished within just a few minutes of us! Awesome! And a few of them aren't veteran runners. I was super impressed. My niece Bella was so cute. She said, "Look! Look! My first medal! I ran a race!" or something like that. It was so fun. We took some pictures, then headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Huber's house just down the street from where we live. We had an amazing breakfast and had fun visiting.

Then it was time for naps :) At around 2 we went up to my parents' house for swimming and BBQ, which was fun and delicious of course. At 6 we headed home to get ready for Stadium of Fire: Beach Boys! It was great and we had awesome seats this year so it was easy to go in and out with all of our babies (my family). Noah did well with the fireworks, but was exhausted (so was I). He fell asleep in my arms and I used a blanket to cover his ears. I could go into how some parts of the show were completely off and non-patriotic (super bugged) but the Beach Boys were great.
